Eve Kalinik
ABOUT EVE KALINIK:
An average work day for Eve does make me think that there must be more than 24 hours in her day. Between seeing her clients in her practice, writing for Psychologies magazine and running workshops she also manages to fulfil her role as an ambassador for Symprove and Plenish - I'm exhausted for her. Let's not forget that she has also recently published her first book, 'Be Good to Your Gut', which offers a comprehensive but down to earth guide.
Not only is Eve's approach to gut health one of my inspirations but annoyingly so is her enviable wardrobe. This comes as no surprise, as it was after 13 years working in the fashion industry that she took the leap into studying nutritional therapy. Her approach has always been one focused on maintaining a life-long positive attitude, as opposed to placing restrictions or punishing yourself for a quick fix. If you're anything like me you'll know I don't do restrictions well, so this is perfect.
Eve creates gut healthy recipes for clients with similarly demanding schedules (if that's possible). So if you have the chance I would definitely recommend picking up a copy of her book or attending one of her Good Gut workshops at her studio in Notting Hill.

What is the gutsiest thing you have ever done?
Writing the book was putting myself out there in many ways. To be honest I'm naturally a bit of a daredevil at heart so anything that gets my pulse racing I find exhilarating. I don't think I have much fear about life generally.

My mum, my nan's leather knitting chair, mornings

How did you first become interested in Gut Health?
Without sounding cliched it was a bit of a personal journey that took many years and different twists. I'm still very much continuing to learn...I think we all are as gut health is a relatively new area and that's the exciting thing about it
Where do you see the future for Gut Health awareness in the UK?
I think it is becoming much more of an open topic as we get more comfortable with talking about poo and our daily movements. This can only be a really positive thing.
How did you come to be interested in gut microbiome?
Total cliché really but through my own personal history and from there the fascination and the ability to help others support their own gut health has just continued to grow more and more. There is so much we don’t know and so much to learn.
What achievement are you most proud of in your career so far?
My book

A tough one but have to say Professor Simon Gaisford who is at the forefront of probiotic development

My parents. They are the most positive, magnificent and incredible people I have the fortune to call my mum and dad.
